A wacky ad on a bus shelter, a grandparent and child on the left and a completely run down hotel (the Cobalt) which once promised  "girls girls girls'" in flashing lights (the lights and the girls no longer work) . I did not go in. Raining hard now  . . .

Ellie (my host - and today is her birthday too) nuzzles her ancient cat. Last night Ellie invited friends over for a birthday party and she cooked a salmon with Tandoori paste which is one of the best tasting bits of salmon I have ever eaten - I will try it when I return east.

The image on the left is a sculptural work by Kim Adams, the painting is part of an informational installation on the steps of the Vancouver Art Gallery which is being presented to bring attention to the human rights abuses occurring in China that are directed against people who practice Falundong.

Mabel's choir rehearsal at the University of Victoria today was the highlight of my day. Robert Fillion conducts in the right image, on the left, Allison Prowse is the conductor of the Children's Concert Choir and beside her is Martie Moolman , the Choir Manager for the Chamber choir.

This is Mabel, my daughter who is in Victoria, British Columbia today as part of the Ottawa  Children's Chamber Choir. I was extremely lucky and got to see her perform while travelling on business and I am very proud of her.

 These folks are Jayne, Monica and Lorne Hammond who put me up and treated me with great hospitality in Victoria while I visited  there to see my daughter Mabel sing with the Chorpodium Conference . These people  made my visit to Victoria really special and made me feel very much at home.
