This store burned down in the wee hours of March 7, 2006. The owner had been planning to celebrate five years in business just a few days later. Somerset Street once again proves herself not only fiery, but rather cruel.

Make that March 7, 2007.

I live a block off Somerset. Several times, mostly those icy cold winter nights, I have awakened to the smell of smoke in my house. As Justin mentioned, many of the structures are very old wood frame. Fred White has now moved his onderful restaurant to Carling Avenue. I miss it. You had to have plenty of time to eat there. The food was REAL, and fred cooked it pretty much alone. I used to enjoy dropping in for lunch after a swim at the new Plant Bath. A real loss to our neighbourhood.
